Chicago native Cardinal Prevost elected pope, takes name Leo XIV - Catholic ReviewCardinal Robert F. Prevost, the Chicago-born prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops under Pope Francis, was elected the 267th pope May 8 and took the name Pope Leo XIV.

About Us

The mission of the Diocese of Las Cruces is to assist the parishes in the Diocese to serve the people of the Diocese by delievering the Sacraments and bringing the message of Christ's Hope to the People within the Diocese.

Our Bishop

Bishop Baldacchino served as a priest for the Archdiocese of Newark for 18 years. Previously serving as auxiliary bishop of Miami, on May 15, 2019, Bishop Peter Baldacchino was named by Pope Francis as the third bishop of the Diocese of Las Cruces.
